Our School consists of two academic departments here at Clemson University. They are, in alphabetical order: Environmental Engineering and Science (EE&S) and Geological Sciences (GEOL). We also administer the university-wide Environmental Science and Policy Program. The common thread which binds us together is our commitment to the natural environment. Our collective objectives are to understand the factors (both natural and manmade) which affect the natural environment and to develop processes and systems to monitor and protect it. We are concerned about the impacts of pollution on human health, but we are equally concerned about maintaining a balanced and healthy ecosystem. We also believe that these objectives can be achieved within the context of an advanced technological society.

Our School serves as a focal point and a steward for environmental activities at Clemson University. But, we are by no means the only ones involved in environmental activities. The field is just too broad for that. Rather, we strive to be a part of the network of scholars on this campus who are concerned about and actively involved in addressing environmental issues.
