| Bachelor's degree and a minimum overall grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0. An undergraduate concentration in economics is not a prerequisite for admission. The recommended academic background includes course work in economics through intermediate micro and macro, course work in mathematics through multivariate calculus and linear algebra, and introductory mathematical statistics and real analysis. Aptitude scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and three letters of reference from persons familiar with the applicant's academic performance. |

Return directly to the American Studies Department, 210 Jefferson Building: Photocopy of all prior academic records (original to Graduate Admissions, photocopy to American Studies). Photocopy of the official GRE results (and TOEFL scores if applicable). Three letters of recommendation sent directly from instructors or other persons familiar with the intellectual attainments, on the referee’s letterhead. A statement of purposes, goals, and special interests relevant to the application to American Studies. |
